Setback Creates Possibilities

Setback creates possibilities. When there is setback in life, there are two ways to look at it. One: You accept the setback as something definitive. Two: You look how to get out of the situation, learn from your mistakes, and improve. I would always like to choose the second option. Rock-bottom is only rock-bottom when you see it as rock-bottom. When you see rock-bottom as a starting point though, it can only go better from there. It is all up to you.

For me my starting point is the realization that I need to focus on myself. I need to focus on my own development, my own growth, and my own goals. For too long now, I didn’t have that focus. I didn’t even exactly know what my goals were anymore. That is also something that I need to find out again in the journey to come. Setback really gave me the opportunity to refocus again. Did I want the setback to happen? No, but it did happen. Now I will have to make the choice on how to react on it.

I have to confess, that I did look at the setback as something permanent at the beginning. When I overthink, it tends to go more to the negative side. But what good does that do to me? I saw a video today, in which was stated something like this: constantly thinking and talking about your problems, make you stay at rock-bottom, because you are constantly focusing on the problem. It made me realize that I had to do something different than overthinking, which only gives me headache after all. So I started writing again.

The upcoming period, I will focus on me. I will focus on my goals, my growth, and my development. Since I don’t really know anymore what my goals are, it will be a great starting point to discover them again. Maybe old goals will get revived. Maybe I will discover new passions and possibilities. I can’t tell. The only thing I can tell now, is that I decided to accept the possibilities the setback gave me. This is the starting point.
