Day 3: Don’t feed me your negativity

For two days in a row now, as soon as I get home, I see my neighbors. The first thing they seem to want to do, is talk negative about the apartment building instantly. Not even a Happy New Year. No, they want tor transfer their negative thoughts to me. Fun thing is, is that I am talking about two different neighbors, living in two different apartments. They are complaining about other neighbors or about the building hallway isn’t clean, whatever there is to complain. But you know what? I don’t even care about what they’re telling me. As soon as I get home from work, I just want to head inside, and eat. That’s it.

Of course everyone is complaining every now and then. I just never get why people choose to start with negativity as soon as they start speaking to another person. They could at least start on a positive note. No-one wants to be bombed with negativity the moment they start talking to someone. When that happens to me, I just try not to listen too much. I still hear what people are saying, but I just don’t pay as much attention as I normally would. Since I am also trying to start out this year positive, I just don’t have time for all this unnecessary negativity.

I call it unnecessary negativity since it just really is. The things my neighbors are talking about aren’t even important. They could instantly switch from negative to positive, if they would just tackle their small problems instantly. If you’re not happy that a neighbor made a mess in the hallway, just ring the doorbell and politely tell them what is bothering you. If you are not happy about the provided services from the housing association, just give them a call. The problems will be solved, or they will not be solved. That’s it. But you at least did something about the problem, so you can let the negative thoughts go, and start thinking positively again.
